Media Display
Once registered and synced, your device displays content in a continuous rotation. The app shows each media item for a set duration before advancing to the next.
How It Works
The app plays through your content playlist continuously:
- Each image displays for its configured duration (default is 10 seconds)
- The app automatically advances to the next item
- After the last item, it loops back to the beginning
- This continues 24/7 until you update the content
Content Updates
When you publish new content from the Publish website:
- The device detects the update during its next sync
- New content downloads in the background
- The display switches to the updated content automatically
You don't need to do anything on the device itself.
Sync Indicator
When the app is displaying cached content while downloading fresh updates, a subtle refresh icon appears in the top-right corner of the screen. This icon disappears once the new content is ready.
Scheduled Content
If your content has schedule rules (specific times or days), the app automatically:
- Shows scheduled content during its active window
- Hides content outside its scheduled time
- Handles recurring schedules (daily, weekly, etc.)
Schedule rules are set in the Publish web app when creating your content.
No Content Available
If no content is assigned to your device, you'll see a placeholder screen:
- Title: "No Content Available"
- Message: "The device is configured but no media has been downloaded. Press OK on your remote to open settings and sync content."
To fix this, assign content to the device group in the Publish web app and publish it.
Screen Orientation
Content displays in the orientation you've set via the Control Panel. If your display is mounted vertically or upside-down, use the Control Panel to rotate the screen.
Background Operation
The app is designed to run continuously:
- The screen never dims or goes to sleep
- Content continues rotating even when unattended
- Periodic syncs keep content fresh
The device will display content 24/7 as long as it has power and internet connectivity.
