Setting Up a Device
When you scan the QR code on a TV running the Publish Screen app, you're taken to a setup page where you connect that device to your account. This page lets you choose which store and device group the screen belongs to.
The Pairing Process
- Scan the QR code — Use your phone's camera to scan the code displayed on the TV
- Open the link — Tap the notification to open the setup page
- Select a store — Choose which store this screen is located in
- Select a device group — Choose which device group this screen belongs to
- Add the device — Tap the button to complete setup
Once added, the TV automatically starts downloading and displaying content assigned to that device group.
Selecting a Store
The setup page asks you to select a store first. Start typing the store name and matching results appear as you type.
If you don't see the store you're looking for:
- Check the spelling
- Contact your administrator to add the store
Selecting a Device Group
After selecting a store, you can choose a device group. Device groups are filtered to show only those belonging to the selected store.
Start typing to search for a device group, then select it from the results.
Device Group Limits
Some device groups have limits on how many screens they can contain:
- Unlimited — Accept any number of devices
- Limited — Accept up to a specific number of devices
- Locked — Cannot accept new devices
If you try to add a device to a group that's full or locked, you'll see an error message explaining why.
Completing Setup
After selecting both a store and device group, tap Add Device to finish.
When successful, you'll see a confirmation screen with:
- A checkmark indicating success
- The name of the device group the screen was added to
- A link to view the device group in the web app
You can close the page after seeing this confirmation. The TV will begin displaying content shortly.
What Happens Next
After pairing:
- The TV syncs — It downloads any content published to the device group
- Content displays — Images start rotating on screen
- Schedules apply — Content follows any schedules you've set
- Device appears in web app — You can see and manage the device in its device group
Managing the Device Later
Once a device is paired, you can:
- View it in the device group page
- Rename it using device nicknames in templates
- Reorder it within the device group
- Move it to a different device group
Troubleshooting
"No such access code"
The QR code has expired. Go back to the TV and wait for a new code to appear, then scan again.
Can't find my store or device group
Contact your administrator to make sure the store and device group exist in the system.
Device group is full or locked
Choose a different device group, or contact your administrator to increase the limit or unlock the group.
Page won't load after scanning
- Make sure you have an internet connection
- Try scanning the QR code again
- Check that the full URL loaded correctly
